Our Story

I came to this country at the age of 5. My very first steps in Britain were right here in Hillingdon.

My sister and I grew up with a single mother who traveled across the world with a simple belief: that we should have the opportunity to live in a fair society. We would be brought up in a working class council house believing that our communities are only as strong as our most vulnerable members.

For most of my life, I did not believe politics was for me.

But the truth is, we can’t expect politics to change if we leave it to the same old people to run. Politics is for everyone. We all deserve leaders who understand what it’s like to live like us. Who know the struggles every day working families go through. Who feel the pain communities across the UK experience every day.

That is why I got into politics. To give our communities a voice.

In 2015, I represented young people in Uxbridge and South Ruislip as their students union President at Brunel University. I was later fortunate to be elected Vice President of the National Union of Students in 2017 - serving for two years. I went on to be elected as a Labour Councillor in Heathrow Villages in 2018 and was privileged to become Uxbridge & South Ruislip Parliamentary candidate in 2019 against Boris Johnson.

Standing against Boris Johnson in 2019, I saw the best of our community. I saw thousands of people from across our constituency ready to accept a young, local candidate against the Prime Minister. They made me believe politics could be for someone like me, for people like us.
